Momma's Boy at Temple Theatre

Why see Momma's Boy?

Showcasing the best of African-American talent

Playwright Priest Tyaire returns with another touring comedy that examines the hilarious consequences of not cutting the apron strings well into adulthood. With an esteemed all African-American cast comprising Robin Givens, Columbus Short, Nephew Tommy (from the Steve Harvey Show), Jackee Harry, Shirley Murdock, and Silk member "Lil G". When a mother is forced to choose between her pampered adult son and her new man, the unsuspecting titular Momma's Boy is forced to grow up extremely quickly, land on his own two feet and even negotiate adult relationships - with uproarious results!

Priest Tyaire's works have been widely praised for casting and highlighting talents of African American actors and creative staff. Borne out of a time of deep despair over the nearing death of his mother, he turned to studying the films of Tyler Perry and David Talbert, adding his own personal experiences as a basic foundation for his own works. In 2007 his first play The Tears of A Teenage Mother premiered, shortly after his mother's death.
